Who We Are ...
... And What We've Done
Grant Bushby has been in the marketing and PR business for more than 30 years. After working in South Africa with companies such as the SABC, Ster-Kinekor and M-Net, he was approached by BBC Worldwide in London to head up the PR & Marketing division of their Sales and Distribution department, where he stayed for 10 years, launching shows internationally such as Walking with Dinosaurs, Teletubbies, Planet Earth, Top Gear and many more. He was also responsible for the launch and marketing of BBC Prime and BBC Food channels across Europe and Africa.
In 2010 Grant joined Impossible Pictures as their Head of Marketing, PR and Social Media, working on series such as Primeval, Sinbad and The Last War Heroes while at the same time raising the profile of the company in an overcrowded indie production company market. During his three years at Impossible Pictures the company went from a rating of 54th in the top 100 Independent Production companies to 16th, in part largely due to his work raising the profile in the trade and consumer press.
Grant returned to South Africa in 2014 and started JAG Communications with well-known journalist Janine Walker.
Janine Walker has worked as a reporter, film and TV critic, columnist and editor and has built up an enormous network of contacts. She reported on the evolving nature of South African performing arts, first as a specialist arts writer at The Star newspaper in Johannesburg and later as Food and Wine Editor, Managing Editor and finally Editor of The Star Tonight!
Janine still writes about food, wine, TV and film for various publications, but for the past decade has also specialised in PR and marketing.
Campaigns she has worked on have been numerous and diverse – from the inaugural Johannesburg International Film Festival, which included the raising of sponsorships, and the FIFA World Cup Kick-Off Concert in South Africa to Shanduka Black Umbrellas.
Janine has also worked on the Black Eyed Peas' visit to South Africa, the SAB Sports Journalist of the Year Awards, the SAB KickStart and SAB Environmental Journalist of the Year Awards, the Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, the Good Food & Wine Show, Miss South Africa 2014, Big Break Legacy and the award-winning Mosaic Restaurant among others.
